Linocut Workshop | Native Immigrant Art Hive
02/10/2018 @ 12:00 - 16:00Free
Native Immigrant feeds on cultural exchange.
Welcome to two weeks of cultural collaboration while discovering what nourishes us all!
Spaces limited, contact email@example.com to register!
Come join us around the table with Mohawk artist Martin Akwiranoron Loft during our Art Hive.
We will learn how to create linocut prints. Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface.
All materials included.
“My art is a reflection of who I am as an Indigenous person (Kanien’keha:ka). As an artist, I strive to incorporate the iconography, teachings, and themes as a source of inspiration for my artistic production in a modern setting. I believe each image is a spark of creativity revealed in a tangible form… an artifact representing my personal truth and journey. Whether I am working in the medium of photography, printmaking, silver-smithing, or digital arts, I strive to represent this aspect of myself through creativity, cultural reflection, and historical concerns.” – Martin Akwiranoron Loft
This activity is free, thanks to the generous kindness of Arrondissement de Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
