L’Atelier d’art Métèque and the Native Immigrant organization have joined forces with Diversité artistique Montréal (DAM) to offer artists from immigrant and Indigenous peoples as well as artists 65 and over the opportunity to provide artistic workshops to audiences in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and Côte-des-Neiges during the fall of 2020 as part of the TROC-CADEAUX project.
TROC-CADEAUX is an initiative that aims to celebrate cultural exchange and is inspired by Mohawk culture with the idea that every child is born with a gift. Considering the cultural background of each immigrant as a gift to be shared, a source of enrichment for the host society, this project will make sharing possible through objects of art created during the workshops. The possibility of exhibiting and exchanging gifts at an event will depend on the context of COVID-19.
This project is funded under the Montreal Cultural Development Agreement between the City of Montreal and the Government of Quebec.
